"In the language of a wagging tail, dogs reveal a profound universe of love, embodying boundless loyalty and unconditional companionship that makes our world infinitely richer." - Anonymous
Rex Specs exists where the love for our dogs meets a commitment to their health and safety. We create products that let our furry companions adventure longer and revel in experiences that we’ll treasure for a lifetime.
Over the years, we’ve had the pleasure of getting to know countless amazing dogs and their humans. It’s those relationships and the epic tails shared amongst friends that keep us striving to build great products day in and day out. We sat down with a few members of the Rex Specs community to ask them about their dogs and experiences with Rex Specs products. These are just a few of the lives that have been transformed by Rex Specs goggles and ear protection.

Q: Tell us about you and your dog.
A: I’m a professional dog trainer who also trains and competes in dog sports with my own dogs. I’ve trained in many dog sports but I primarily compete in agility, with a little side of barn hunt and nosework. For down time, we love going on runs and hikes. Each season has some outdoor activity we enjoy doing.
Q: What is your favorite thing about your dog?
A: My favorite thing about my dogs is the bond we share, followed by how adaptable they are.
Q: How long have you been using Rex Specs?
A: I have been using Rex Specs since, I believe, 2016.
Q: How has the use of Rex Specs goggles changed your dog's life?
A: I can enjoy certain activities like 4x4ing with the dogs, something they love doing, with peace of mind that they are safe from any injuries to their eyes with the protection of Rex Specs.
Q: What is your favorite color of goggles?
A: My favorite color has to be the Cali purple*, for obvious reasons!
*Cali purple has been discontinued, but Pike Purple is very similar!

Q: Tell us about you and your dog.
A: My name is Lauren King, I’m a professional dog trainer, and I have 3 extremely active, high energy dogs. My oldest is Lakota, an almost 6 year old Border Collie and was my very first sport prospect. I have another Border Collie, Reign, who is 3 years old, and a 9 month old Belgian Tervuren puppy, Fable (Fae).
Q: What is your favorite thing about your dog?
A: Fable’s nickname is “honk honk” because of the honking noises she did as a young puppy, and the nickname just stuck. I think my favorite thing about her is the way she stretches on my shoulders. She’s done it ever since I brought her home, where if I’m sitting down, she’ll prance over to me, put her legs on my shoulders, and stretch while giving me kisses. Her prance is also pretty dang cute as well!
My favorite thing about Reign is her “woos!” Every morning, she never fails to give me a fantastic little “woo woo!” to help me wake up. A fun fact is that she’s actually a black and white ghost tri, meaning she has some brown points showing through her coat on her legs!
Lakota is a very sensitive man, but my favorite thing about him is his loyalty and “whatever you want, mom!” personality. If I say jump, he asks how high, and I love that about him!
Q: How long have you been using Rex Specs and how has the use of Rex Specs goggles changed your dog's life?
A: I have been using Rex Specs since 2019, so a little over 4 years now! Rex Specs has given myself and my dogs so much more freedom in our adventures. I no longer have to worry about injuries to their face, especially their eyes, because of the protection of the goggles from debris, sticks/brush, the sun, and other random things you may find out on the trails!
Q: What is your favorite color of goggles?
A: My favorite color of goggles is definitely the purple, because it’s also my favorite color in general! Each of my dogs have their specific colors, and luckily we have a pair of goggles in all 3 of their colors! Purple for Reign, blue for Lakota, and teal for Fable!

Dakota Berdahl (@gus.and.mia)
Q: Tell us about you and your dog.
A: Gus is a blue heeler mix. He was rescued from an animal shelter. When we saw his face on the rescues website, I immediately knew that I needed him. How could I not with those speckles on his face! When we went to the shelter to look at him, he came into the visiting room, peed on the door, and then jumped in my lap, and I immediately said yup, This is the dog for me! My husband was quite skeptical as he did not grow up with dogs when he was younger. When we took him home, he immediately Peed in our house. It was very apparent He had no training whatsoever so I immediately went to work to make him the best possible dog for our family. We now compete in AKC events and Sports and Gus has over 24 AKC titles! Mia was our second dog, this time I decided I wanted to go with a breeder for specific reasons and genetic traits. I knew I wanted a higher Drive dog, as Gus is quite lazy, and I had always wanted a crazy dog that would catch a frisbee, jump in water, and just overall play with me! Mia is a Dutch Shepherd. She is extremely high drive and wild. I love that about her, but it has also made training quite difficult as she is definitely a different dog than Gus, but I love her for who she is!
Q: What is your favorite thing about your dog?
A: I love that Gus is super chill, but always down to adventure and be by my side. He's super good at the obedience-based dog sports, such as rally, obedience and agility. He also has super fun prey Drive and we compete in Barnhunt as well. He is definitely my right hand man and my cuddle bug! I love Mia’s energy, and that she will give her 100% no matter what I ask her to do. She excels at competing in frisbee, dock diving and cani-cross! I love that both my dogs get along with each other and are super dogs, and people neutral as well!
Q: How long have you been using Rex Specs?
A: I ordered Gus his first pair of Rex Specs in July 2020 while we were living on a cattle ranch in pretty much the middle of nowhere and I started to heavily get into hiking with him and decided he needed eye protection for all our adventures! Within three days of having the Rex Specs we went, and both hiked our first Fourteener here in Colorado! Ever since ordering my first pair, I’ve been addicted to not only the style, but the protection that it gives my dogs due to the fact that we are at such a high elevation here in Colorado with extreme UV rays plus the possibility for snow blindness in the winter!
Q: How has the use of Rex Specs goggles changed your dog's life?
A: The goggles help Gus because of the UV rays and elevation that we are at here in Colorado but he mostly sticks to the trail so I am not worried about him getting too hurt by bushes or sticks and such however, my other dog Mia will absolutely go off trail, plow through bushes and trees, and even occasionally accidentally find barbed wire. I truly think without the Rex specs, Mia would have had some serious eye or facial damage due to her rowdiness on our adventures. Both my dogs wear their Rex Specs on every hike for these reasons!
Q: What is your favorite color of goggles?
A: I think the pinks have to be my favorite on Mia, such as the neon and yazzberry, but I also love her looking tough in the camo ones as well. Gus is a black and white dog so he pretty much looks amazing in everything however, I think my favorite on him would have to be the teal or orange goggles!

A: Elaine is my most versatile dog. At 9 years old she continues to amaze me! Chiles is very high drive yet super chill. He can do anything and go anywhere! Rifkin is my goofy happy boy and he makes me laugh everyday. CJ is my newest addition and I am having a blast raising this crazy monster!!
Q: How long have you been using Rex Specs?
A: I've been using Rex Specs since 2020! My dogs wear them on every single hike.
Q: How has the use of Rex Specs goggles changed your dog's life?
A: My border collies are wild and the Rex Specs have helped keep their eyes in good shape! My 9 year old has a bit of vision loss & they are helping preserve her vision.
Q: What is your favorite color of goggles?
A: My favorite color is definitely orange!
